I’m a CPA in Southern California with about 2 years public experience. I’ve pondered getting a masters in accounting and I’m just wondering if it’s actually worth it, it seems pretty 50 50 from other posts I’ve seen online. Any advice may be appreciated

See what jobs you would like to apply for require. It is usually a combo of education, experience and credential. You have the CPA – don’t spend the money unless you apply for things and don’t get them based on a lack of masters degree. If an employer is willing to pay for one, then do it!

Just coming up on four decades of CPA status. Currently managing partner in a small CPA firm that does lots of high-end tax work for high net worth folks. Possess two masters degrees myself, one in finance from University of Washington and another in tax from Golden Gate University…. (Undergrad degree in accounting.)

Here's my take. A masters in accounting is redundant to your CPA.

A masters in taxation if you practice tax might make sense.

But bottomline, no masters in required. You have the CPA. You have or can get the required knowledge and skills.
