Hi All,
To summarize it quickly, I graduated 11 years ago with a degree in psychology and worked for a year or two in the social work field. I realized that it really, really, really wasn’t for me. I transferred within the non-profit agency that I work for to their accounting department and have gone up their ladder from A/R specialist to financial analyst to finance manager.
Along the way, I went back to college and got what they called a “Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Accounting”. It fulfills the same educational guidelines as a bachelor’s in accounting. In fact, my office has two finance managers (I’m one) and I have taken more accounting classes than my peer who has a bachelor’s degree. I fulfill the 150 hour rule and I’m taking the CPA exam now (I’ve passed BEC and take AUD this Saturday).
While my non-profit office has been amicable to my lack of bachelor’s degree, I am having a very difficult time even getting interviews as so many jobs appear to have bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, etc. as a minimum requirement. In following with HR offices, I’m being told that I don’t meet the minimum requirements of the position.
I’m wondering do any of you have a similar Post Bac certificate? Are you having similar issues in job hunting? Will this go away when I pass the CPA exam? Any advice?
Thanks.

FAR: 66 (Jan 2012), Rematch July 2014
AUD: 61 (Jan 2014), 86 (May 2014)
