kaaCPAParticipantI am currently working on my GGU Master's in Tax – via Golden Gate's Seattle campus. It is definitely worth it! I have learned much more from that than studying for these exams.. Haha. I would definitely pursue it. The only drawback is that it takes a long time (3-6 years) if you are working full time and only taking 2 classes/year (taking tax season off).

sleepyMemberI completed my MST from GGU strictly using their online program in a year and a half. I too was working full time and was able to pull off a 3.53 GPA. It was definitely worth it and having that Masters in Taxation has given me the edge to getting my current job.
AUD - 80
FAR - 73, 76 done!!!

AnonymousInactive..but if you dig into their website, you can also see that a working “professional” who works fulltime has only about a 14% chance of graduating within a year. i think after 5-7 years the graduation rate only goes up to 44%. these are vaguely recalled from memory; i glanced at their website a few weeks ago and just recalled chuckling when i found a spelling error on their website. but, that may just be me being a stickler. i've never taken an actual class so i can't speak on the quality of education one can obtain.
lots of my managers and stockholders have received various degrees from GGU. mainly tax people.
oh yeah, the typical working professional is recommended on only taking 2 semesters worth of classes per year, excluding tax seasons of course. most people under this class graduate in 5+ years.
take what you read with a grain of salt. i suggest you look at their website for more info.

jsh1177ParticipantI'm actually currently enrolled in the full-time MST day program and will be graduating in April 2012. Will you be able to attend full-time or part-time? Personally for me the experience has been great (previous 2 year tax prep experience). I've learned a lot in the past five months (MST-Day is a 9 month full-time program) and the school is very aggressive about getting their MST students employed.
Not too sure about the part-time or online program but the MST Day program from start is geared two goals: teach you tax law and get you employed. You start meeting potential employers from from orientation and dive into the code and regs from day one.
Hope this helped and please let me know if you have any other questions.
