I work as an accountant in a private company. What certifications /courses should I pursue next which will be beneficial to my career and for job search. CIA, CMA, CFE, Cr.FA, CTP, CISA are currently oferred but I am wondering if they are really worth the cost and effort. Any thoughts…

I am currently working on the CIA. I also work in internal audit and it is a highly suggested certification from the boss. I think it is worth it if you are working in the field.

I am also considering doing the CFE at somepoint. To be more specific I work in higher education internal audit and a function of our office is to investigate financial irregularities so the CFE could be useful. Have to get through the CIA first!

I would only do additional certifications if you want to do them and if they are beneficial to your own career path. I would not just do them to have an alaphabet after your name!

    NYS CPA License # 113563
    CIA: Done as of 2/15/14

Training for a half marathon post studying!
