Hi there!

I posted here A LOT in the prior year, I was pursuing the CPA ( living from Canada, yeah a bit of travels and everything haha).

It was such a journey!! with a 71 in FAR and with many doubts if this was really what I wanted to do, specially when

I didn’t want to be a tax person nor an auditor anymore. It was hard to realize that the CPA was not what I wanted to do, usually is the way to go for many accountants.

I worked in the last two years in industry and I loved it!! My experience as an auditor helped a lot though, but I found there my way. Now, I’m pursuing the CMA in USA.

The great and awesome thing of all this, is that I can write my exams in my city!! YAYYYYYYYYYY, I have found my review program, and my employer will be giving me my experience to CMA. I love love love the program, and if all goes well, I plan to have my designation in 7-8 months.

I hope I can find the CMA tribe here! I love this forum, is the best! It keeps me motivated.

If anyone here is going for the CMA, I would like to know, we can support each other!

Hi. I will be going for my CMA after I complete my CPA which won't be until sometime next year most likely. I am actually more scared of the CMA test, as Part 1 only has a 38% pass rate. That is CRAZY. Anyway, I love industry as well and have been employed in industry for the past 15 years. It is where my niche is, but to some companies, the designation CMA doesn't mean anything to them, so I plan to do both. Good luck and keep me updated as I am very interested in your journey.

I have heard the same about the pass rate, but I think with the CPA, CMA will probably be a joke for you hahaha

That is the world-wide pass rate. The U.S. pass rate is higher at around 51%

Great. I didn't know there was more than 1. My Gleim books gave the rate in the section where they tell you all the products they offer. It was only broken between section 1 and 2.

Going with the CMA too instead of the CPA. I had managed to pass FAR and AUD and gave my all to BEC and REG and after failing both exams more than once, I had to question everything else. Right now, my gut is telling me to go with the CMA and I just registered with the IMA; just debating whether I need a couple of refresher courses in addition to my Gleim materials. Planning to sit for both parts in Sept/Oct window…

The cma pass rate is a little deceiving. It is lower because the education requirements to sit are relaxed compared to cpa. You may have a lot of people taking the cma who have general business degrees, making it harder than someone with an accounting degree. Also, language is an issue for many people. Having passed both parts of the cma and passed far, bec, and waiting on reg results, I can tell you that the scope and depth of the cma exam is smaller than the cpa exam. I would not take the cma without studying at all, but I estimate each part of the cma is about 70% as hard as reg or bec. This is just my opinion! Hope it helps!
