Shawn7MemberHi all,
I am applying to jobs, as my license is in process can’t write CPA but want to write passed all four exams. Should I include education section (included successfully passed all four exams) on top or bottom of the resume. As recruiters see resume only for 15 seconds how I can catch their eye to look at my resume. I am struggling with job search now from three months after passing my exams no potential call at all. Thanks.

G3MemberLove where I am now but it's not getting me any closer to my license
I put “Completed all sections of the Texas Certified Public Accountant Exam” on my latest resume…hopefully it will help in the job search π
3XBEC:75 * 4XREG:82 * 4XFAR:76 * 7XAUD:77

Your advice is probably still applicable, but I have over a year of auditing experience and 9 months of private experience. Not sure if that would help. My problem is my experience is about 6 years old and due to my short time at two firms I don't have one solid reference. The private accounting experience was at my fathers company which we sold and later went into litigation with the new owners. I waited to long to get back on track, and I am not sure what to do. GGU supposedly has amazing hiring percentages for their tax graduates.
I spoke to an ancient wise man who sent me on a mushroom induced journey through an ancient forest to find the key to passing the CPA exam. A talking spider monkey told me to throw the last of my drinking water in the dirt to find what I was looking for. So I followed his instructions and the following message appeared in the soil:
"Do 5000 multiple choice questions for each section"

If your applicable work experience is 6 years old, then yes, you should try to get any accounting job you can. Why wait until you've passed your exams? You should start applying now. Take it from me, it's never too late to get back on track. I didn't have a degree in accounting, had a bunch of random jobs. When I finally buckled down, I got any accounting job I could, finished my coursework, started getting through the CPA exams, and parlayed all of that to a job in public. Now I'm a senior at a national firm. They didn't even care what degree I had or what my grades were. It all came down to recent work experience and personality (which goes a really long way in this business).
If you are set on GGU, I would ask them what percentage of their tax graduates had some meaningful tax experience prior to / while in the program. My gut tells me the graduates have success with recruiting were the ones with substantial experience. Also, the program with most bang for the buck is the on campus one, since students in that program are the ones who have access to on campus recruiting events. The online program is not the same and doesn't offer the same perks.

Study MonkMemberThanks justshants,
I have been flip flopping on private accounting verse tax/audit a lot in the last few months. Right now I have the luxury to focus on the exams, and am set on looking for work no sooner than May. Your advice is solid and I appreciate it a lot. Thanks!

Shawn7MemberWant to share few important points based on my personal experience, putting on resume licensing in progress creates confusion to recruiters they think still you have to fulfill some requirements, my two direct recruiters run away because I have written this on my resume before, let them ask the status from you on phone interview or on personal interview then you can explain.
I strongly recommend don't write anything regarding state unless otherwise asked or required if you are applying out of state, I got surprised even qualified CPA on my interviews created a big drama can you believe they think CPA from CA is not the same as CPA from NY etc, SERIOUSLY,,,,I explained them as long as you are not signing reports as a CPA its doesn't make any difference , CPA got uniform exam, same educational requirements bla bla,,,but NOPE!!!!!!!!

Study MonkMemberShawn7 That is a good point. I will now put:
Passed all four sections of the Certified Public Accountant Examination in 2014
