Hi All,
I am a first semester Junior at a large university in Philly. This past Summer, between my Sophomore and Junior year, I was lucky enough to do an internship at one of the Big 4. I got the internship through a lot (!!) of networking and leadership roles. Most of my internship was administrative work and work in the recruiting department. I was offered an internship for this upcoming winter busy season, from January to April in Tax. I am very excited to start and learn the ways of B4 public accounting!
And this is where my worry comes in. I have 60+ credits (maybe like 62), and my overall GPA is a 3.68. However, I haven’t been doing so hot this semester and currently in the low B’s, high C’s range in a couple classes. I do have a couple “filler” or GPA booster classes. After using my university’s GPA calculator, I don’t believe my GPA will go any lower than a 3.55, and thats doing pretty bad during this semester.
However, I’m afraid that the recruiters might reevaluate or reconsider my internship after seeing a low grade in my intermediate 1 class, which the teacher is horrible and i’m kind of teaching myself. I got an A in intro to financial accounting but it looks like a might get a B or B- in intermediate 1, which would make my major GPA something in between a 3.3-3.5. However, some people do not consider the intro class to be part of major GPA.
My only argument could be that I have other things going on as well. I am an officer in an accounting student professional organization at my university and a volunteer intro to financial accounting tutor, but only a few hours a week. I also commute (which sucks) and have a part time job.
Sorry for such a long write up but does anyone think they might rescind or reevaluate my internship due to lower grades?
