Hello!
I’m hoping to be done with my CPA completely after this quarter of testing. So fingers crossed come June I’ll have an MBA and a CPA.
My husband is in the military, which means we move around a lot and our family life can be non-existent. Long story short – he has an opportunity to go to a magical place in the middle of nowhere, where he won’t travel/deploy AND we won’t move until he’s done his 20 years and retired (8 years from now). Not to mention it’s only a short 300 miles from family, as opposed to the 2,000 miles away we are now.
The town is about 15,000 people and if you like Applebee’s and Walmart it’s the place for you because that’s all that’s there. Military benefits are REALLY hard to walk away from (pension, free health care, etc.) so we are struggling with what to do because of my hard work and career aspirations.
My question for the masses is, has anyone successfully landed a work from home / telecommuting job? That would be my ideal situation as there’s just not a lot of opportunity at this place. The nearest metropolis is probably Oklahoma City – which is 2 hours away, so not really feasible for a commute.
Are there recruiters that help you find these kinds of jobs? I’ve left jobs in the past because of moves and I always get told by my supervisor “I would love to let you work remotely, but it’s against company policy”. 🙁
