Work from Home?!?!?!?

Anybody work from home in their field? I was just talking to a friend who’s an attorney (trademarks) and he works from home every single day of the week! He’s been to the office 3 times in 3 months.

I would like that kind of gig 🙂

Besides laziness and general apathy towards reaching uber success and wanting to make partner, I want mobility where I can potentially move to California in a couple of years.

Who has a good gig working from home??? If my friend can be an attorney and work from home, I can be a CPA and do the same!

I wish! It's always a fight to get a work from home day and we're 100% electronic now!!

I have worked from home on a few occasions, twice when I had surgery and wasn't able to go in to work and twice when our office flooded from hurricanes. Sometimes I feel like there is much less distraction when I work from home and am more productive.

I work from home every now and then- my company is really awesome when it comes to that. I don't think I could ever work somewhere where that wasn't ok

My boss has it set up so that I can work from home whenever. Of course, I end up going to the office just about every day, but if I have something that needs to be finished and I don't want any interruptions, I stay at home. We scan everything that comes in the door and save it, so I don't need to take anything out of the office to get it done. I love it! I wish I could do it everyday!

Doing it as we speak. I'm at a Big 4 and my firm seems to be ok with it every once and awhile (I do it a few times a month). All people care about is if you get your work done, and on time. No need to babysit people if they're doing what they're supposed to.

I'm at a mid/small regional CPA firm in Florida, and we have a manager who actually lives in Georgia and works out of her house. So it can happen. No one's ever seen her!

I work for a small firm and can work from home whenever I need to. Doing it today – my kids have no school. My firm also lets my work 7-3 so I can be home to get my kids off of the bus. The more people I talk to the more appreciative I am of the huge flexibility I have with my job. I turned down a job offer last week – more pay, higher status but it had no flexibility. I realize more and more I'm really lucky to be where I am. If work from home and flexible schedule is what you want I think small cpa firms are a better bet than private or big 4 – at least from my experience.

I worked for a pretty large firm that let me work from home when I wanted or needed to. One time I even had to reschedule a trip to a client three weeks before because I needed to make a drs appointment and they were fine with it

I was working for a big 4 and I was working from home on evenings and weekends… (does that count hahaha). I think it depends of the partner you work for. Some of them are really stiff about you being at work (even after hours, team building!?!) when others don't care as much (every other month is ok). Now that I'm working in industry, it would never happen. We almost have a time puncher. Don't even think about being there at 8:07AM.
