Just doing very quick googling, and it seems like accounts receivable jobs pay more on average than accounts payable jobs. AR average salary according to google is upper $30k/lower $40k while AP average salary is lower $30k/upper $20k. I wouldn’t think there would be that much difference between the jobs, but there does seem to be a somewhat big difference in salary. I know as a college grad I am probably overqualified for both AR and AP, but I am still considering them just to get some experience and my foot in the door since I have zero experience right now.
One thing I have noticed is that many AR job postings list collection calls in the job description. So as an AR specialist I would have to call clients to get them to pay as if I was a collection agency? That is one thing I would really hate doing. I can’t stand telemarketers/solicitors/etc, and I would never want to do anything of that nature at all.
