I was wondering which tax return preparation software accountants are using lately?

I’ve never prepared tax returns as a business, but studying REG got me motivated…

    Do you buy Turbo Tax?

Is there a website to lease tax software by return?

    What’s the best software?

I would still say Drake. We use it at the firm I work at. They offer a lot of training and practice materials, and their customer service is excellent. They are also much much cheaper than most other services, like Lacerte. I find that they are a good fit for a small start up firm that doesn't have the revenue to pay thousands and thousands for software. Their representatives are also really helpful if you have any problems with a return. I've had to call them a few times for help and they are always pretty friendly and I usually have a resolution within a couple of hours to any problem I have had.

I use CCH Axcess, it's essentially v2 of ProSystems fX. I have used TurboTax for friends/family returns and GoRS when I was at PWC and have demo'd Lacerte. I like Axcess the most out of all those programs, it's user friendly and intuitive.

We do around 900 returns. Axcess isn't cheap but it is damn good for our needs.

Sure you've found the right tax software provider, but if you're still looking, I might be able to help you. Personally I use the provider H&R Block, because they have a large selection of different possibilities to get the maximum refund at any time.

For the purchase I could also save money because I got a great coupon code at taxsoftwarecoupon.com. They also have coupon codes for other tax software vendors and if you are interested, you can check out their site ( see HERE! )

Hope I was helpful and good luck!

It's been like 6 years since I did tax work but we used Intuit ProSeries and had about 150 or so individual tax clients. Their ProSeries version definitely let you go wherever you wanted to in the return. You had the option of doing the questionnaire or not. I think the limits on how many returns you could efile was just based on how much you paid. You just had to pay more to get more. I didn't have any complaints with the software, it definitely met our needs. I don't have experience with any other software so I don't have anything else to add to this thread.
