I am getting ready to complete my accounting certificate this semester and am currently working at a job that pay about double the starting salary of an associate auditor. Unfortunately, this position won’t last forever so I decided to enhance my under utilized MBA and add a CPA designation. If I have the opportunity to work at a firm after I finish school should I take that position and study for the test while being an associate auditor or should I stay with my current position and take the exam.

Depends on a few things. At your current position are you working normal hours that you have time to study? Sounds like a job that you would be working ridiculous hours with that pay and if it's only temporary. and are you working under a CPA in order to gain your necessary work experience (depending on where you live).

If you answered no to either one of these, I'd probably start working for a CPA firm if I had the chance.
