Obviously it is busy season so I won’t leave now, but I want to make a jump to industry. I know application processes can take a long time. When would you recommend starting a job search.

    1. Start looking now and be upfront about waiting to start new place until after April 20th?
    2. Hold off for another month to start looking and then provide a 30 day notice?
    3. Wait til after busy season to start looking?

I have thought about this for a long time and I know it is what I want. I work at a small firm (three people now including me) and it is just too small.

What are the chances you'd be able to take time off to go interview even during busy season? Don't get me wrong I always say start looking asap because the right job may be out there now and gone by the end of busy season but if several interviews are absolutely out of the question for the next few months your decision has been made for you.

Even during busy season I have flex hours. I work more hours but can work them when I want to. That is one of the luxuries of such a small firm. I can stay late or work both Saturday and Sunday as long as I am billing. So that wouldn't be an issue. My firm is actually really flexible, just so lonely and quiet. I sit by myself ALL day long! Some days I am the only one in the office. It drives me insane. I'm by no means a social butterfly, but it would be nice to have people my own age around and maybe go get some lunch with coworkers once in a while. I enjoy the work, but the atmosphere is just depressing.
