    Hell guys,

I wanna share my personal life with you guys, since you help me a lot on the exams before.!

First of all, I’m not smart guy at all.!! I take a lot of time to focus on studying.!

So, I started to work in small firm as an auditor from 2013 till present, and from 2013 till now.! I was trying to pass at least one exam in the CPA, but the luck wasn’t in my side at all.!

Last week I took the the BEC exam ( and that was the second time.) And again, the luck wasn’t in my side.! so, the total exams I took it so fart are 4 exams ( 2AUD, 2BEC.)

Now I just finished meeting with my boss, and he said you have to work harder then before, cause the policy is changing.!

he wants me to work from 9:00 am till 3:00 pm and then 2 hours for break, and the the second part from 6:00 pm till 11:00 pm.!! 6 days a week, and 45min drive from my home to work.! as you can see there is no time for studying

The other option is, to quit the job for Now.!! and focusing on the CPA more.!

So that’s lead to either sacrifice in Work or sacrifice in CPA.!!

If you are in my position and you don’t need money so bad, since you’re living in your parents house and they can afford buying your things, and you still 23 years old.!

    What should you do.?

    Thanks,

Obviously if you don't have to work, don't. If you have the luxury of having your parents support you financially then by all means take advantage of it.

That said I see plenty of time in your schedule to study. That 2 hour break between 3 and 6 for starters. Get up at 7am and study for an hour before you have to leave for work.

Is it FUN to be on the go straight through 7am-midnight? No, not at all. Is it perfectly achievable? Yes, especially for somebody as young as you are.

However a split shift like that stinks, and I wouldn't do it.

    FAR- 77
    AUD -49, 71, 84
    REG -56,75!
    BEC -75

Massachusetts CPA (non reporting) since 3/12.

Yea…unless I was desperate for money I wouldn't stay at that job at all. Let alone if I was still working on the exam.

That schedule is worse than my Big 4 busy season hours. I work at least the same number of hours, but that split would make me run far away. I'm not working until 11 because I had a 3 hour break mid-day, when I could be out at 8 with no break.

I do agree with mla that it's possible to fit studying in as well as working, but I personally would be looking for a new job immediately if they told me that was going to be my schedule.

@emma5 Personal opinion here: I would be very grateful If I had economic support in order to finish this thing. I would definitely talk to my parents and make a deal to help out with some “home” tasks in exchange of food 🙂 I would quit immediately that firm, but expressing that is for studying purposes (to don't close the doors) and I would make appointments in my calendar to start right away!

You are so lucky!! go for it, and NO ONE is smart or not smart for this sh.. t!!

This is a matter of discipline!

    Good luck

who are you..! but hey I'm glad you are keeping such a positive attitude. it's kinda funny. although you will eventually pass them all if you keep it up.

2 hour break is the time you squeeze in study for 1hr. take Saturday off from studying. and study a lot on sunday when you not working. if you can get up early and study then go for it.

the commute needs to be closer, or listen to ninja radio.. I mean audio. good luck emma.!

Wow. That's really unfortunate, the number of hours you work. If you want my opinion, can you try your best to find a job at a smaller firm, before you quit? Tell them that you're looking for life-work balance, so you need a 9 to 5 job, or some reasonable hours. If you can't find the job, then quit and start working on the CPA, as if it's a job! That's what I did and I was able to pass. I would wake up at 6 am and study until 9pm, then go to bed, Monday to Sunday. I paid myself from my savings. As you can see from my signature, the strategy paid off except for Audit, which I did not study long enough for (I think 1 week only).

If you're lucky enough to find another better job, with 8 hour days, then you'll be good to go.

    CISA - Smashed 2012
    CIA - Passed 2015
