I will be receiving my MBA in Accounting this August.

I already passed two sections of the CPA exam [AUD and REG].

But it seems that most of the public accounting firms have stopped hiring since the fall and won’t be hiring till next year…

What can I do? I’ll have graduated by then.

I’m nervous that I will never find a job in this field…I didn’t do so well with interviews during the fall via OCR.

I’ve already scheduled FAR and BEC for October.

Advice?

I also have $80,000+ in student debt to worry about…

Most big firms hire well in advance (about a year). Most smaller and mid-sized firms do not. Try there.

And … its not the end of the world if u don't find a job in public accounting now … u can move to public accounting after a year of experience. Just be positive and optimistic… Good luck !

I agree with the person above who talked about small to mid-sized firms. I just got my first public accounting job at a 75 person firm last week, and I start the day after Labor Day.
