Value of Public Accounting

I’ve heard public accounting is one of best places to start a career, especially if you are going into accounting or finance. I know I want to work in a financial role at a Fortune 500 company someday. What value would public accounting give me (besides “Big Four” on my resume)? What skills would I gain that I otherwise wouldn’t elsewhere?

The answer to your questions are nothing and nothing.

All you should want is a few years of Big Four on your resume and the letters CPA next to your name.

After that, go find a “REAL” job…

    it will improve:

    -excel skills

    -working under pressure skills

    -dealing with sometimes-shitty situation skills

the second two will probably make you look like a stud when you leave public and your new peers are people who complain about staying until 5:30
