Hi, I recently graduated college and took the summer to study and pass the CPA exam. I took the exam during a 3-week period in August and passed all 4 parts!!! I now have a couple of questions concerning my resume. My first, is if I should in anyway indicate on my resume or most likely my cover page that I did indeed pass all 4 in a 3-week period or is that maybe just bragging?

Also I do not have any intern or accounting experience. I did however work as a P/T Teller throughout college, I should definitely include this in my resume, correct? Also, I am hoping that passing all 4 parts of the CPA along with just an average GPA of a 3.36 i could possibly get an entry level position in one of the big 4. I also pretty much have the 150 credit rule complete, the only thing I am missing is an accounting research class.

I guess I am looking for advice on my resume and asking whether or not what I am hoping for is even possible. I live in New York btw. Any help would be greatly appreciated

CMant, Congratulations on passing! That's awesome! You're on your way to a great career.

On your resume, you should have a header for Licenses and indicate that your CPA License is Pending and that you have pass all 4 parts of the exam, that's the truth. But you can not call yourself a CPA yet.

Your cover letter should indicate that you have passed all 4 parts of the CPA exam and that all you need for your license is one year of work experience..ect.

You should definitely put that you have passed all 4 parts. Put that you have almost 150 credit hours (or will be completing them soon). Big4 like people to have that done in states where it is not required.

Put any job you've had in college. Avoid anything before college pretty much as it is not viewed as relevant.

Leverage passing the CPA exams as showcasing your drive to succeed, etc.

As far as getting into the Big4, utilize any friends you have that are in big4, even if they just started. Utilize your school's career services too. Network as much as you can.

If you have any more specific questions about Big4 recruiting I will try and answer from the perspective of in California.
