UCLA extension or Santa Monica College

I’m trying to decide whether to pay 4X the cost of taking classes at SMC, a good community college, to go to UCLA extension. They both have certificate programs.

Wondering if employers will be more likely to hire someone who went to UCLA extension or does it matter, given they’ve passed the CPA exam.

What about getting hired before having passed the CPA exam? Do employers care? SMC has a good reputation and good pass rate.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

    Track55, I should've mentioned: I already have a bachelors degree from UCLA.

I think your bachelor's from UCLA already gives you decent credentials. Save your money, nail your classes at SMC, and focus on networking.

Are you attending the community college for additional credits for licensing? Have you looked at LSU ODL?

Unless the UCLA extension program is a Macc it will look exactly as the same degree/certificate as if you did go to SMC. But if it is a Macc then UCLA will prob have a good career center that recruiters recruit out of directly. B/c I was in the same boat, I got my credits from a top US CC, and saved $$, the only downside is no one really recruited out of my CC. B/c my program was more geared to people already in the field trying to get enough credits to sit.

Depending on the employer a couple parts passed looks good, but all parts passed looks even better. B/c if you think about it, the employer doesn't have to worry about you going mia to go study for the exam. On two of my interviews they asked how far along I am and if I passed the whole thing.
