Option 1: take 12 credits at MNSU this fall from Aug – Dec. courses are 3 credits each

Courses: intermediate fn acct II, Acct info sys, Biz income tax, Biz Law. = tally of 12 credits!

Option 2: Strayer university online courses, “4.5” credits each, duration 11 weeks per class. MN State CPA board says credits earned from Strayer are acceptable for eligibility although i did not see Strayer listed online as accredited!

    url: https://www.mncpa.org/becoming-a-cpa/accounting-education/accreditation-levels.aspx

Courses: intermediate Acct II, Federal taxation, Auditing, advanced acct. = for a tally of 18 credits!

Any advise? should i blend MNSU and the online? what would you do? I work FT but I want to give this my all and earn 19 credits asap. I welcome any advise please.

PS: i have BA and MBA in Finance concentrations.

    after burner...

Business Law is not counted toward the accounting credits. At least, not in my state.

Chose whatever is recognized by your state board and is easier for you.

For me, online is always brutal. They give you SO much busy work with online classes. You end up dedicating more time to the class than if you were to sit through a 3 hour class once a week… IMO

    AUD 81 (X4) Previous scores 59, 72, 72
    REG 80 (X3) Previous scores 59, 60
    FAR 75 (X2) Previous score 67
    BEC 79 (X2) Previous score 58

You WILL need the accounting course. I do not see anything wrong with taking the courses online. Like someone mentioned, it is just as hard as a “sit in” class but it is really up to you and how you manage time. I am taking course online at Saint Leo University. The great thing is, I can take these from ANYWHERE and IT ACCREDITED! That is something you don't want to take lightly. I always encourage people to research a school before attending…its your time and money being wasted IF the school is not accredited. Keep in mind that some schools when transferring [hypothetically speaking] may not “Recognize” your credits if the school is not accredited.

Online is great,at least for me because I have 2 kids and going to start working again soon, so I can do my work at 3am when I can't be disturbed. It sounds nuts but this works for me. The main thing is finding what works for you!

I am not too keen on “for profit” schools(not sure if Strayer is one) They tend to charge EXTREME amounts and offer little to no accreditation…For example, I knew someone who was in like 50k in debt for a little 9 month LPN program. These school should be outlawed for taking advantage over people IMO. St. Leo is a non fro profit private school. It is going to cost me about 60k to finish my BA and earn my MA but landing a stable job is worth the money to me. I researched this one intensely before deciding to go lol

To me. Accounting starts you off with low pay BUT w/n 10-15 years, you can EASILY be making 80k+ depending on what you want to do! I am looking at this as a long term goal.

HOPE this helped a little! Good Luck! 🙂
