Hello all. I wanted to create a one-stop thread for tax/accounting side hustle Q&As. There are many threads out there, so wanted to create something more to the point.

I will pose the following questions that I presume most people want answered. Note: please provide short 1-2 line answers only to keep it succinct.
1-What part of the country do you live in what is your day job?
2-What is your current side hustle or what is your desired side hustle?
3-What tax software do you use or what is your tax software question?
4-What are the major impediments you see in running a side hustle or what questions do you have regarding any roadblocks to success?
5-How did you make your side hustle unique or what are you thinking?

    Thank you!

How about this for a business idea.

Doing clients taxes while client is drinking and partying. Office is both office and partying setting.

The business will be called “WeWork taxes while you Party” 😀

I have been calling all kinds of companies past few days and am getting pricing for web-site, SEO, lead gen, marketing that is so varied that it's laughable.

    Examples:
    -$35/month with SEO. Very reasonable.
-$2,000 up front then $300/month. Personalized attention. $5,000 for highly customized web-site.
-$5,500 up front with coaching sessions. Lol.
-$500/month from the most popular CPA site builder based on a google search.
-$88/month from a firm that has pretty nice samples.

I would like to generate some traction through my web-site, Google My Business, Facebook page, blogging etc.

Hey Last Chance. I remember you from on here years ago.

Have you given up on being a licensed CPA? The exams were tough…do you think it'd be worth it to get your experience so you could be a CPA? Or is it college credits needed?

@Tmacpa – Yes, it's been a long time! I remember you. I have been frustrated about this for a better part of 5 years. I have tried all kinds of ways to get the work experience, including scaling back my expectations and resume. But we just bought a house in So Cal, so I don't think I can take a $50-70K pay cut anymore.

I have decided to use the fact that I have passed the CPA exams, along with the pending EA, to start a side hustle doing tax and small biz bookkeeping. I can't see any path right now to become licensed and I think it is a damn shame. But this way, I can at least utilize my education in some capacity.

    1. What part of the country do you live in what is your day job?
A: Houston, TX – SEC Financial Reporting Accountant

2-What is your current side hustle or what is your desired side hustle?
A: Taxes, Bookkeeping, IRS Audit Rep (I'm an EA)

3-What tax software do you use or what is your tax software question?
    A: Drake

4-What are the major impediments you see in running a side hustle or what questions do you have regarding any roadblocks to success?
A: Time. Clients want to talk at random times during the day, as they don't know I have a FT job. I've made it this way because I want to eventually transition into my side hustle, on a FT basis.

5-How did you make your side hustle unique or what are you thinking?
    A. Nothing is unique about me, except for the fact that I was once a teacher. The teacher in me breaks down what I've done for the client, especially the business clients, so that they can better understand their business, and the value I bring to them. 🙂

@FutureCPALawyer – You plan to be a lawyer as well? Do you have a web-site with SEO for your side hustle?

I am prob going to get Quickbooks ProAdvisor instead of Drake for tax/bookkeeping. I am study for the EA right now, and it seems like a cakewalk.
