I secured a spot with a great regional firm for after I graduate. Unfortunately, I graduate in April and don’t start until January. I plan on studying hard and taking my CPA exams, but I also need to work during this time. What are some good temporary jobs that I could do before my start date. I have an interview with another firm for a summer accounting internship. I also have applied to an investment firm. Other ideas I have are: Looking at accountemps, book keeping, bank teller, data entry. Any other good ideas on where to work while I am studying and taking my exams? Thanks!

Ask your future employer if they have a summer position, or possibly something part time that would allow you to work and also study for the CPA exams.

I'm sure you've asked if the start date is negotiable? Assuming you have and there is no chance you can come on early in any capacity (part-time, etc.) then I would say to focus on the CPA exams and take whatever part-time job you can get- whether it's related to accounting or not. Truth is, a lot of public accounting firms may not be keen to hire someone after busy season only to have them leave before the next one. If you've already got the FT offer, it really doesn't matter what you use to fill in the 8 month gap. I would just look for something that will let you work the hours you want at a decent rate.
-If you can knock out all 4 of the exams before starting full-time, I promise you won't regret it. Wasn't an option for me, but I would have loved not taking them during tax season.

I had the same problem when I graduated. I'd recommend looking for a short term contractual position!
