Tax Exit Opportunities

    Hi All,
I work at a smaller accounting firm (50-75 CPA’s) in the tax department. I am a CPA and have 1.5 years of tax experience. Although I am currently happy with my job, I am wondering what the exit opportunities look like with a tax background? Am I pigeon-holed in tax? Or will I have some opportunity in the future to work in something else?

    Thanks!

I've only been working for 1.5 years as well but my thought would be that with already having your CPA and only being in the field for a short amount of time you're definitely not pigeon-holed! I think the CPA alone would allow you to move around within the field and the tax experience would really only help as I see it. Also, my perspective is that the longer you're in the business and the higher up you move, the more you diversify what you're doing. This is probably more true the smaller the firm is where you can't get away with a single focus. Are you wanting to try out some different aspects of accounting or do you see yourself getting burnt out on tax or something?

Again, take it with a grain of salt because I have no more experience in all this than you it seems!
