Taking a break after college to finish the CPA exams–effect on employment?

I am currently in the last semester of grad school (will be graduating in May) and am studying to take my first CPA exam. Honestly, it is an overwhelming amount of material, as we all know, and I find that I’m struggling to study on top of school and my part-time job.

I am the type of person who works better when I put my 100% focus and effort into something, so as of now, I am planning to take several months off this year (following graduation) for pure CPA studying. Has anyone taken a sabbatical for the CPA after graduation, and how has it affected your ability to get a job, etc.? I know that employers don’t like seeing too much of a gap in-between school/employment, but I think that this would be the only way I would be able to pass the exams without over-exerting myself in the effort.

(Also, please ignore my username…I am no longer aiming for a Big 4 job, and now I just want a job that will pay the bills, etc. I hope that employers would be understanding of the importance I want to put on passing these exams.)
