    Ahoy hoy members,

I recently just got my CPA designation and i have been job hunting for 2 months around northern VA and DC area. I’m going for entry level Auditor position (i rather not be internal auditor). Do you guys have any tips or any ideas on this job hunting journey?

My 3 yr of experience in ibanking operation qualify me to be a CPA but doesn’t seem to mean much to recruiters without public accounting experience. Its been a rough two months since i have gotten several rejections letter because I do not have the experience and of course, i screwed up on 1st and 2nd interview =(. I am not a college grad any more but not good enough to apply to be an experience hired. Am I looking at the wrong place? or what am i doing wrong here?

Any help will be greatly appreciated! i do miss this forum ever since passing the exam…

Hi laugeorge, Have you tried to apply for any Audit positions with the government? There are a lot of internships and entry level audit positions posted right now on usajobs.gov. I also live in the DC are and I had a hard time getting into this field with no experience. However, I landed a job with a government agency and my experience with this agency has opened many doors for me. The government takes a long time to call you back but it's worth a try. Also try attending job fairs and networking events.
