So I’m looking for advice, specifically if anyone has insight into if one path is better than the others. A big factor is that this is going to be short term, maybe less than a year. If I had the choice as someone with no experience between an audit position with my state or as a staff at a small accounting firm is one significantly better than the other. I’m thinking hours, pay ect. I go for interviews for each position on back to back days and would like to know what I’m getting into just in case I get offers.
I am starting to settle down and don’t really want to travel like I used to. The state job says it requires out of state travel occasionally but I’m not sure exactly how much that is. I know that since it’s government the benefits would be better and the pay may be also but once again not sure on this. If anyone has a similar position I’d love to hear how you like it and what it entails.
Small firm is just what it sounds like. I live in a small city and this firm has maybe 4 accountants total. I’m not really worried about benefits such as insurance with this position since I have that but was wondering more on if the hours could get bad since it has few accountants.
Any input would be great.
