I recently joined our state CPA association, and they will be having a roast/picnic next Friday. I am just wondering, what is the proper etiquette for one of these things? I.e. how should you introduce yourself, is there a certain time limit with taking with someone before you have to move on, etc.

Just play it like a professional organizational meeting.

Have a goal, make contacts, ask questions, get names and cards.

I'd say it was a relative success, even though it doesn't seem like anyone from our parent company showed up. Because I recently joined and basically don't know anyone in the association, yesterday was just me talking with various people and us getting to know one another. Half of the people I talked to were from one firm lol. I'm looking forward to our next chapter meeting.
