I am waiting for a firm to call me back today or tomorrow with an (hopefully) offer after my final interview last week. I just finished the exams and this would be the perfect present from god if I have a job secured as well. I would start in January meaning I can relax through the holidays up to the New Year when (hopefully) I start at my new job. I need time to speed up till the call before the anxiety kills me.

Good luck! I start in January and I wish I could relax throughout the holidays. I cant afford to have family stay over too long after Christmas, so I'll be forced to kick them out hahaha.. Definitely need that time to study. Will this be your first accounting job? recent grad?

I am currently employed, so this would be my second accounting job. However, I really really need to move on for my career and the 20-40% raise depending on the offer will not hurt. If I am unable to make the switch, I think I will be stuck through the end of busy season.

I just noticed you were the person talking about the internship in SF. Is this the job you are waiting on or did you decide to go for another one?

Oh yes, I remember. This is another firm I am talking about but the original firm, I am almost positive it's the same firm you will be starting at. I have secured an internship but I think it might be too risky for me to go there and leave my current job. The associate who interviewed me said it was 50/50 for interns. I really liked that firm though and everyone I met was awesome.

This new one I am waiting on is a smaller firm where I hope will be more secure for the long term.

It definitely would be risking leaving for an internship. Regardless on which path you take, Good luck! & If you are still on this forum in April, I can let you know if I end up with the full time offer.

I'm relieved, I got the permanent position but it's in the East Bay. Bridge toll or BART….

Good luck to you too! Doubt you need the advice but just focus on improving yourself and learn as much as possible for the busy season and try to stay above the competitive fray. If you are not retained, you will still have a kickbutt resume with a busy season under your belt and at least 50% of the CPA exams done. Pretty good.

Hey thats good news! Congrats!! I will definitely try to be better than the rest. One intern is actually a CPA already and is working towards his Masters. Another intern has her Masters and passed all four CPA exams. I was worried at first, but I doubt they are going to choose who they want solely based on credentials. They might have to even pay them a higher salary — which I'm not sure employers are willing to do. Hopefully I can be 75% done with these exams before I start work.
