For someone that wants to eventually work in manufacturing, I am also open to working for a small local firm if there are not any manufacturing opportunities when I graduate. There are 3 main firms around here, and the smaller one that I am interested in does more local work. The other firms ship people out in the middle of nowhere to do audits for weeks at a time and I really would not want to do that. Can anyone tell me what to expect working at a smaller firm? Exit opportunities for manufacturing? I really do believe that deep is more advantageous than wide, so I would rather stick to manufacturing. I am not particularly fond of the variety in public accounting. I would rather do manufacturing only and become really, really good at it than do a variety of work. Just because you know something doesn’t mean its useful. The smaller firm is also less strict on following the campus recruiting routine and more open to hires at different times of the year which makes me consider it if manufacturing opportunities do not happen to be available. What can I expect? What are the advantages/disadvantages?
