Hi everyone. I have an interview with a mid-sized firm, and it is on Skype. I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions or advice about doing these type of interviews. Also, any help for internship interview would be helpful as this is the first of a few that I have lined up. Thanks.

    – Dress like you would for a “real” interview

    – Make sure that anything that can be seen on camera (aka the wall behind you) projects the image of professionalism that you want to convey. If your computer is in the family living room, your sibling's kindergarten drawings on the opposite wall are *not* something that's great in the camera. Likewise, I wouldn't do it in a room that's clearly a bedroom or anything like that – they don't want or need to know that you have Mario on your bedspread.

    – Following up on that, don't have anything too embarrassing in the room, even if it's not in camera view. Cameras can get bumped, fall, etc., and they don't want to see your underclothes laid out to dry, or your tube of hemorrhoid cream sitting on your desk.

    – I would think seriously about getting a good-quality, low-profile headset. You don't want something that has headphones bigger than your head, but relying on a laptop's built-in speakers and mic will likely lead to lower quality sound and may make it hard for them to hear you – hard to hear you means hard for you to impress them

Yes, everything Lilla said…but also, set up your computer and do a test run to make sure all of your equipment is working before your interview. As for the interview itself, practice ahead of time. Have a friend/family member run through some standard interview questions with you. If you search this forum, you will find LOTS of interview advice. Good luck!

Lol, I got you… So, don't ignore the basics.
