I have 4 years of experience and at my second job and been there a year. I am currently feeling overwhelmed with the workload. I thought my last job was intense but it was manageable. This is just starting to feel like I can’t wrap my head around everything I need to do and I feel like it is preventing me from doing my best at any one particular thing. I’m not the type of person to complain and like to just keep my head down and get the work done but this is just getting crazy.
Anyways, we all know we are understaffed but I am wondering just how understaffed we are. It is just me as the staff accountant, controller, and CFO. Then we do have separate A/R and A/P departments. We are currently on pace to do well over 500 million for the year and are constantly acquiring new companies around the country. We are a distributing and manufacturing food company.
So those of you with more experience, what do you believe to be an average or adequate accounting department structure for an over $500 million company?
