Should I hold off for a position or take a temp job?

    Hi,

I have zero experience in accounting on my resume. I got offered a temp-to-hire job, but i have an interview with a company i rather go with. I don’t want to bail on the temp company if i accept the job, or should I? Should I just keep searching for something permanent? I need the experience.

Don't feel bad about bailing on temp company. Most of these jobs are supposedly temp to hire are not really, it's just a line used to bait people.

Take the temp job, there is no guarantee you will get the other offer. Then if you do get an offer, give a notice at the temp job.

Temp jobs (even temp to hire) know theres a good chance you're going to bail or they may decide not to keep you. If they wanted a commitment it wouldn't be temp in the first place.

I agree with mla1169, based on my own experience in a Fortune 500 and the experience of my buddy who is now at PWC. The last 6 months I was working on a temp-to-hire 6-month contract which was not that great. I had 2 busy days and 3 not-so-busy days. They make promises that they'll hire you just to keep you going. Truthfully, 10/10 times they hired people they could under pay (e.g. some contract-employee who didn't have a Bachelor's). Take it and then dump them if you get the other job. Don't feel bad about anything. Trust me!
