I've seen job postings for PwC Seasonal audit positions..I'm really curious about these: Is it literally they bring you on as an extra working body to tick and tie and then you are dismissed after busy season? It seems like that is the worst temp situation I've ever heard of.

I think it would depend on your situation. At least it would give you plenty of time to recover before next season 😉

I saw the PwC postings. At the bottom under additional information it mentions that there may be other obligations in the off-season such as trainings and what not. So I don't know if it is just “temp” work in the traditional sense.
