If someone with experience can help me out I would greatly appreciate it. Not sure what to ask for?

    Currently:

I have 1.5 years experience as a staff accountant at a small firm 20 people.

    Mostly preparing tax returns.

I have my MBA and CPA

    Interviewed for:

    Number #11 firm

Pretty much the same position I currently have (there will obviously be more work though)

On the interview, they asked me what I was looking for in terms of compensation and I said 60k (I really wasn’t expecting that on the interview, so they kinda caught me off guard – In the past I’ve never been asked that, they usually just gave me a number). Anyway, they called yesterday and offered me what I asked – which makes sense, but I don’t know if I low balled it? If you think I did what should I do? Ask for more saying I had an other offer somewhere else?

Most people need a job right now. If you want the job take it. They asked you and gave you what you asked so consider where you are and how long it will take to get an offer from another compnay. Decline the offer if it is not enough, but certainly do research on salary before the next interview.

    It begins with a 75

ditto what rock said, whenever money comes up, especially if it's early on in the process i tell them, “if we get to the point where you want to make me an offer, we can discuss it.” and you should usually try to not get into how much you currently make. what you are worth or what you're asking for shouldn't be contingent on how much you make now for this perfect example that you could currently be underpaid.

I don't see the salary ranges for first year Big 4 offering anything above $60K….I realize you have 1.5 in smaller firm but even second year in Big 5 don't see the range being above $60K. The goingconcern dot com website offers articles of salary track that shows up to 20% raises per year…so I would take the job and do an awesome job. I know one person at Deloitte that took on many tough clients one after another and within 6 months was given the salary of a 2nd year associate and great reviews.

Look at this article titled Recruiting Season: Public Accounting Salaries for The Starting Class of 2013 in going concern dot com.

Thanks everybody for your input. I really appreciate it. I'll probably end up taken it and if I asked for more from the get go I don't think it would of been that much more anyway. Having a reputable name on your resume is worth it for the long run, I guess.
