    I am finishing up my MSA degree in Boston. A little more information about me, I had about 3 years of tax and audit experience at a small local firm(2 years was in auditing). I passed REG&Audit in 2013. I am applying to different companies in Boston area. How much do you think I can ask for? Is $60,000 reasonable or you think I am crazy?

    Also, please share your tips of negotiating salaries and other tuition reimbursement benefits.

    I never did these when I took my first job, so please please please help me with this!! Thank you!!!

    What size firm are you looking to work for?

    $60k is starting salary for the Boston Big 4 and mid-size, so no, that's not crazy.

    Are you working right now? If so, hold off until you're licensed to get a job. Yeah, you can probably get 60 in Boston right now (but I mean IN Boston, not in an outlying community. You won't get that in Burlington, or Brockton if you go out of the city by a few miles, trust me). However if you wait until you have your CPA too, you're more likely to be in the 70-80k range. You're not likely to get bumped up that much at a 60k job just for getting your license.

    FAR- 77
    AUD -49, 71, 84
    REG -56,75!
    BEC -75

    Massachusetts CPA (non reporting) since 3/12.

    @mla

    I interviewed with regional firms in Lowell, Burlington and Woburn and they were all offering $55-60k starting salary.

    Ntw6817: I am looking for big firms or mid sized firms. if small firms offer good money, I will consider them too.

    mla1169: I am currently still at school finishing up my Master degree in Accounting. I will graduate in mid December.

    Mango: Just a little more information, are you licensed or do you have graduate degree background? I am just trying to get an idea of how much to ask for. (Since I had an experience of getting way underpaid for 2 years) What salary range do you suggest? (I am paying for the Graduate school myself, so I want to take that into factor. The tuition is about $35K.)

    Thank you all so much!!!!!
