For those working do you feel this guide is accurate? There is also a calculator on their website that will quickly take into account your area as well as your position, etc.

I’m trying to negotiate a raise (which according to this Guide is completely reasonable) but my boss says it is unreasonable. I’d like to hear from others… Thanks!

    FAR - 7/13 - 72, 11/13- 74, 2/14- 82!!! Best score ever (for me)!!!
BEC - 1/14 - 75!!! Perfect score! First Pass! YAY!!!
    AUD - 8/14 - 80!!!
    REG - 5/14 - 72, 10/14 - 66, 1/15 - 78 - DONE FOREVER!!!
I did 5 of the UNA and CPAExcel classes to earn units.

I generally don't trust Robert Half or other agency recruiters.

big4 tax looks about right depending on your educational background

dont forget about location too – NYC/Stamford/Chicago/LA/Boston are all the higher end

I was working at the Big 4 and for my level, I was apparently underpaid by ~$7k less than the LOW point. I've had opportunities with other firms in the area, and my expected salary was pretty consistent with what I was making at the Big 4. So, at least in my case, the Robert Half Salary Calculator runs too high. If compared to the low point, it's too high by about 14%. If compared to the midpoint, it's too high by about 28%.

As a side note, for some positions in corporate accounting (internal audit) that I've been looking into, the salary is within the Robert Half Salary Calculator range (albeit on the low side).

    REG - 93 (7/30/13)
    BEC - 90 (8/19/13)
    AUD - 98 (8/31/13)
    FAR - 84 (10/19/13)

W_Hamilton did you adjust for your area? Towards the end they have info on how to adjust for your specific area.

StephAV, I don't believe so; I just used their Salary Calculator, where it asks to put in your zip code, so I assumed that it automatically made any adjustments based on that. I will go back and try to see if it has an area to make any adjustments and see if the results differ.

EDIT: It seems as though the Salary Calculator doesn't include bonuses or graduate degrees / CPA. My figures didn't include a bonus because we didn't get one, and if I included my graduate degree, I would have been even more underpaid, heh.
