In 2001 I was burned out from 6 years of constant late nights & long hours while working for large public companies. So, I quit and in 2002 (off work approx 2 months) found an office job that guaranteed 40 hr weeks and practically zero stress.
I completely stopped working in 2004 when I had my son but I’ve officially been out of the accounting profession since 2001. I now need to go back to work for personal reasons.
I’ve applied to over 150 jobs over the past 2.5 months resulting in 3 job interviews, 4 staffing agency recruitments, and zero job offers.
My resume gets viewed very often (I’m on all the job boards so I can keep track) but I rarely get contacted past the viewing.
My past experience is excellent (I’ve done just about every kind of accounting). What’s holding me back is my lack of RECENT work experience.
Few jobs list CPA as a requirement; but I’m considering taking the exam anyway because I can put parts passed on my resume and hope it represents current knowledge/experience to employers.
I am asking for opinions as to whether or not me passing the Exam will improve my chances of getting a job.
Thanks in advance…
