Responding to Offers

I’m going through the recruiting process right now and I just got an offer from a firm. It’s not my first choice and I have several more interviews over the next few weeks. Should I let the firm know I have more interviews and will let them know afterwards or go ahead and accept the offer and then just tell them if I get a better offer? On the one hand, I want to be honest with the firm especially since a good friend of mine helped me get the job (she knows it wouldn’t be my first choice), but if I don’t get another offer I don’t want to have to come crawling back either.

    B- 8/13/2012- 92
    A- 7/19/2012- 83
    R- 5/30/2012-82
    F- 7/3/2012- 90

This is a tough call. I would say to just hold out if you really feel like this is not a top choice for you. If the difference between this position and the ones that you prefer is minimal then I would say to grab this one while it is there for you. The fact that you seem to be considering holding out on this offer shows that your heart is probably not really into this place so you should continue the interview process otherwise you may end up wondering what might have been…

    FAR - 81
    REG - 75
    AUD - 85
    BEC - 79

Thank goodness it's over... Now on to the next step...

My only advise in this situation is don't accept the offer and then recant if a better offer comes along. This can only hurt you, it burns bridges with everyone at that firm, and you never know when you may cross them later in your career.

I would see if you could get a time frame to respond, usually they give you a week or two. You can always ask if you can let them know in 2 weeks? Depending when your other interviews are.

    A - 61, 91!!
    B - 78!
    F - 76!!!
    R - 71, 73, 74, 69, 77!!!!

    Finally done!

This is my 2nd attempt at the exam, I had two parts passed (failed many) and I stupidly quit, big mistake. Now I'm back and with a vengeance!
