So I am a staff, associate or whatever you call it.

My current place is under paying me and keeping me at a low position.

I got an offer from another firm. 20% raise. and higher title.

I could see current firm countering. I don’t want to stay. How should I handle this?

Listen to the counter and let them know you will consider it and get back to them. Then in the next day or two let them know that you appreciate their offer but have decided to go with the other firm.

Well I want to start the new place in December. I am letting them know the good news tomorrow. (well good for me)

I don't want them to waste time coming up with an offer I will reject.

I would rather just conclude this meeting tomorrow with both of us knowing, that I am outta here.

Slip a note across your boss' desk, “I will not entertain counter offers. Peace out beeatch.”

Too bad so sad. Your current place should've paid you what you're worth so that you wouldn't be looking. Don't ever stay if a counteroffer is made.

    Couldn't pass again!

Well all went well. The asked me if they should put together a counter, and I said, “no” And they appreciated my honesty and not wasting their time.
