Quit/Stay job advice?

    I’m just tired of doing nothing all day long. I was recently told that I will be working with the budget director and I really don’t think my duties will take me anywhere besides being a staff accountant for the next 10-15 years. The work I do is not challenging and I’m tired of browsing the internet all day and no one here gives a crap. It also pisses me off that people here seem to think I’m not smart enough to do real accounting. I was thinking about sending my resume to local firms and quit if I get anything even if it means working 50+ hours. What do guys advise? Thanks

    @markiux88,

    That sounds really frustrating. IMO I think I would weigh everything going on for you. I think I remember that you are taking a class and will be sitting for FAR in January?? Point is the job search takes time and the process itself is stressful. I think it might be tough to be starting a new job while in the throws of FAR. I think if it were me, I would wait till I have my first exam under my belt before I make any changes in my work life. Just my two cents……..hang in there!

    I would pass all part of cpa while working there…why not study instead of web browsing? If you quit and You get a busy stressful new job 50-70 hrs week you will feel burnt out after work and not want to study…after pass I would GTFO…if passed already go start looking LOL

    I wish I had a job that “allowed” me to surf the web all day and do nothing while I studied, especially for FAR. I know the job is boring now, but like others are saying, use the time to study, keep your life as consistent as possible during exams. The last thing you need to deal with now is change. Nail the exam and use that to help you find something more challenging.

    you already know the answer to this, and you have for some time. Better to be the driver than the passenger in this situation and take your time looking for the perfect opportunity.
