I don’t have much information about ASA or CFA, but am trying to do some research, and get myself prepared for my career planning.
I work in internal audit. I am not really sure whether I want to stay in internal audit until I retire. As my main audit areas are investments, finance, and actuarial (IT audit), I think it would be beneficial for me to learn more about business. So I plan to study for ASA (Associate of society of actuaries) or CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) after work.
My ultimate goal is to climb up the corporate ladder, and get a position in leadership team level. In the near future (probably in 5 years), I want to find a job where I can combine my expertise in risk assessment, internal controls as well as EITHER actuarial, or investments knowledge, and manage people in my team. The question that I have is, what are the jobs that I could take once I become an ASA, or CFA, other than actuary, or trader? I want to know jobs in which ASA or CFA designations would be beneficial (other than being actuaries, or traders, because I don’t want to waste my Internal Audit experience)
I’d greatly appreciate any advice you may have.
