Hello all. I am currently a senior, licensed CPA, at a big 4 firm finishing my third busy season. I recently interviewed and got an offer as a senior internal auditor at a medium sized private company in Philadelphia. They offered me $60,000 plus yearly bonuses of up to 5%. To me this sounded pretty low, given what i have heard from others. I was thinking near $70k base. Could you guys chime in let me know if I’m correct in my thinking? Thanks!

i am a mid city and just got promoted to senior in industry (i am tax not internal audit tho) and i am getting low to mid 60s (with 2.5 years industry exp). with 3 years big 4 exp you would prolly be a step above me here which would prolly be mid 70s. we are a big corp but even so i would think 70 as a base at a mid-corp is definitely a reasonable expectation. maybe they are expecting you to negotiate? you could come back to them and just tell them that in your research low to mid 70s was what you were seeing.

Yeah I made a counter offer saying i was looking around $70k and would consider if they could come close. But they said there was no flexibility. At least it made my decision easy.
