Question about gpa requirements.

I did my undergrad at a big 10 school and did poorly my final gpa was a 2.8(B.S, Accounting). However, I a getting my MSA (top 100 program) where I currently have a 3.87. I was unable to get an internship due to my undergrad gpa, and dont know what to expect when I start applying for jobs. My biggest question is if I will meet the minimum gpa requirements(3.0, 3.2 etc) since my grad gpa is high enough or if you will automatically be eliminated since my undergrad gpa is under the threshold.

You got your Master's, so who cares what your GPA was in undergrad??? Just don't disclose it!

Of course I may be wrong, but I personally wouldn't care about undergrad GPA if I were looking at your resume…..I guess it depends where you are applying to…..

    FAR: 81 (May 2013)
    BEC: 81 (July 2013)
    REG: 83 (August 2013)
    AUD: 82 (November 2013)
    California CPA since 1/30/14

Agreed. Don't release the info. They can verify your master's and if you get the CPA they aren't going to care about your undergrad GPA.

I assumed they were going to ask about my undergrad grades or is this not the case if I am applying as a MSA student?

I don't think they will ask UNLESS you have zero accounting-related work experience……GPA is for the entry-level jobs…..If you have an MSA and at least SOME experience on your resume, no one will care about your undergrad GPA.

    REG: 83 (August 2013)

I should add that I am applying for my first job so they are all entry level.

Well, in that case you never know…. Apply for the state/federal govt jobs. With your MSA you will be overqualified and they definitely won't care about your GPA 🙂

are you applying for a job or an internship? You're much less likely to be asked GPA for a job, even if the application gives a space to fill it in, leave it blank. Then if it gets brought up of course you'll want to be honest, but as was said above nobody is likely to be looking for it.

    FAR- 77
    AUD -49, 71, 84
    REG -56,75!
    BEC -75

Massachusetts CPA (non reporting) since 3/12.

The above posters are 100% correct. I personally knew a guy that connected well with the managers and he had a 2.8 undergrad GPA. They hired him, even without the CPA or Masters! And the other posters are right about not disclosing your lower undergrad GPA, but even if you did, I'm pretty sure that you just need to have a good story to tell them about why you didn't perform very well. At this time, the Big Four are experiencing growth in various services and they can't afford to be too picky. And also agree that it's a lot easier to come into these big audit firms as an experienced hire if they don't take you the first time round (that is, if you haven't networked enough). Even if you can get a little bit of experience as a contract employee in a Fortune 500 company, go for that, then try the Big Four.
