I worked in public accounting at a midsized firm for five years. When I left I was in the position of tax supervisor. Now I’m a senior accountant at a billion dollar healthcare facility. I’m completely bored out of my mind. I don’t find the accounting work interesting and I thought I would, and now I’m unsure as to what to do. I don’t thunk I’m wired for the private world – I like being busy and constantly learning new things. I guess I didn’t realize how slow the pace would be in the private world. My old job was offered back to me or I have the option of going to a different public accounting firm. Has anyone gone thru this before, went into private and then switched back to public? Or even gone back to their old job? I’m not sure what I want to do with my life right now but I just don’t think I’m cut out for the private world. I think that I’m going to end up back in public if I know myself because I apparently need that kind of environment but the question is where. Just wondering if anyone else out there had similar experiences they could share!
