I am just trying to get an idea if your firm pays for its employee’s CPA license or is that a personal expense? Should I expect an firm to pay the license fees each year for me?

I am in private industry and cpa is not required for the position I am currently holding – my boss put my cpa licensing fees in the budget and told me they would pay them, even though I did not ask about it.

    FAR 11/2012: 80
    AUD 2/19/2013: 90
    REG 5/14/2013: 76
    BEC 11/2013: 85
    Ethics: 100
    Waiting on the packet....

It varies and it up to your company whether to reimburse you or not. There is not law that says your company has to do this.

I'd check the employee handbook to see what the general policy of your company is. If you can't find anything there, don't be afraid to ask around – your colleagues, HR, your supervisor.

If your company doesn't reimburse, I think license fees are tax deductible. But double check to make sure. It's been a while since I took REG =)
