    Greetings!

Back with another query. Currently working as a staff accountant at an investment company but slowly everyone around me, especially family and friends of family have been consistently bugging me about tax questions (that and everyone around me is also opening business and it makes me want to start doing something with my life) and I have told them that I’ve done one tax season. But all their constant questions have made me think, maybe it is valuable for me to obtain SOME tax knowledge or at least refine it since my brief exposure to tax.

I do have my license but my experience is fairly lacking. Lately I’ve been seeing some part-time work ad floating around and I was wondering, how would it look if I reached out to these firms to work for them part-time during the tax season to get my experience? Would it look awkward since I’m a CPA without much tax experience? Has anyone who has sought tax while working their current job offer some advice?

While I do understand a simple solution to this is to GO GET a TAX job since I have a CPA. My very first REAL job was at a public accounting firm before their busy season and I was LET GO the moment the season was over. So I’m not comfortable leaving my secure position for some tax position unless I know they’re for sure keeping me. Thus I want to try this route and I would very much appreciate all comments/suggestions that you all give. 🙂
