Paid time off on test day?

Does your firm or workplace offer paid time off on test day? My firm does not (we must use vacation time) and I’m curious to know if that is the norm.

Varies from firm to firm. My last position had it as a continuing education day, so I didn't have to use a vacation day. However, a prior firm made me take a vacation day. It all depends on the bosses.

    If I were boss, it'd be a no-brainer.

    A: 83
    R: 78 (expired), 77
    F: 74, 74, 80

    It's finally freaking over.

Also, I've heard of people getting the day before off as well? Is that common?

I know the Big 4 I will be working at allows half-days on Friday while sitting for the exam, but I'll have it done before I start.

I'm Big 4 and they generally had no problem letting you take time off the day of and day before an exam, but it's personal time.

My old firm had 4 paid days for the exams. And we all know its takes more than that! Here at my newer firm I can use OT for extra days off which is what I did for a few. The rest I took vacations. For me, I wasn't going to be using my vacation hours until I passed so might as well use them up.

CA CPA - All because of the journey listed below
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    FAR - 53('10), 8/25/12 79 PASSED!
    REG - 66('11), 69('12), 12/06/12 77 PASSED!!
    BEC - 58('10), 74('12), 01/05/13 77 PASSED!!!
    AUD - 43('11), 66('12), 69('13), 74('13) 7/29/13 85 PASSED!!!!!

I had to take vacation days for the 2 days prior to the exam, to do my last minute crams. Had no problem doing that. I wouldn't expect the firm to pay for those days.

@littlenumberrobot- what do you mean you use OT for days off? I keep seeing other people mention it but i'm not sure what it means.

When you work in some firms (mostly public accounting), and you go through busy season, they allow you (or force you) to “bank” all the OT you put in, to use for future use as additional time off. Pretty sure that's what she meant.
