I went to my boss today (company owner) and asked for a promotion from Accounting Manager to Controller, with an 11% raise. He didn’t shoot me down (yay!) but said I need to provide him compelling evidence before he’d consider it. I can find thousands of job listings, on Monster and Craigslist, etc. and can find exactly what I need to make my point but I know there are resources geared toward helping an employer create a job description and I’m not finding those.
My contention is that administering the 401k, filing sales and use tax, being the sole point of contact for auditors, insurance, and bankers, preparing the budget, forecast and presenting to the board of directors makes me a controller. Also I have final approval on all outgoing quotes, am a signer on all bank accounts, and have to prepare very in depth reporting for government contracts.
Pretty sure I can justify this but want to put together as much ammo as possible!
