    A71 family,

Orientation is coming up soon and I’m wondering what is good to wear on the first day. Do I need to wear my suit or is a shirt and tie sufficient for the day?

    Thanks

You should survey your binders full of women and see what they think 😉 haha

I think shirt and tie is perfect 🙂

Personally, I would go suit. Always better to be overdressed than underdressed and you can always take the jacket off later.

I agree with MeaDebitum, I would go suit, then on the 2nd day you can go business casual if the firm is business casual. IMO always better to be over dressed the under dressed.

    A - 61, 91!!
    B - 78!
    F - 76!!!
    R - 71, 73, 74, 69, 77!!!!

    Finally done!

This is my 2nd attempt at the exam, I had two parts passed (failed many) and I stupidly quit, big mistake. Now I'm back and with a vengeance!

“Oh crap – he's wearing a jacket…” – Dudes rocking only a shirt and tie.

Seriously, happened to me once and I vowed not to let it happen again. I went to an event that was labeled “business casual”, so I went shirt and tie. When I got there, everyone was in a suit…

    Thanks, family!

I'll probably rock a suit first day then. I feel goofy using a backpack and suit, but it's a boss ass North Face. I have to be prepared for epic journeys on my commute. Hopefully I'll have binders full of women by the end of the day, Trisha 😀

I'll only wear the speedo if it has CashMoney10 on the crotch.

I'll sponsor the Speedo …. $100 cash if it can have the NINJAs on the “back”.

    Monetize!!!!

@CashMoney are you going into public accounting? Big 4?

Things are more casual here in California, but I agree with the others that it's better to be overdressed than under.

I think you should go with a suit, no tie on the first day. I'm guaranteeing that business casual will be required attire when you are at clients and in the office, though you will have a few exceptions.

When I was in public accounting the rule at my local SF firm was to dress to level of the CFO. So if the CFO wore a suit we had to wear a suit. Thankfully I was never staffed at any of those clients.

Frankly, I think guys have it much easiter for business casual: dress shirt and slacks. I guess women could wear that too, but BORING.

Anyhow, even though I'm in industry now, I still wear business casual to work (I dress to the level of my boss' boss) and jeans on Friday.

Good luck on your first week!

Thanks for the advice, Chupa! I'm going into public accounting, but not Big 4. Office is located in the financial district if that gives it away, LOL.

You're right, jenuno. IDAF I'm going to have a helicopter drop me off on the rooftop as well 😀

Umm no, it doesn't give it away! My firm was/is in the FiDi as well.

Are you doing Audit or Tax?

You are also lucky to be here for the World Series.

@jenuno nah, son I interviewed at a few Big 4, but nothing went through. That's okay though, I'm excited to start at a top 10 either way!

@Chupa I'll be going into Audit. I was actually at game 6 of the NLCS! My aunt got some tickets and asked if I wanted to go when I was moving in. I was like, “uh, sure…if I HAVE to.” 😀

    Game 1 @ 5 today 😀

@CashMoney glad you are going into audit! That's the way to go. And the fact that you have already passed the exam gives you a HUGE advantage over most people in your start class.

I work in SOMA, close to the ball park, so I love the energy on game days and especially today. The helicopters have been going since 2.

So jealous you were at game 6. Only went to 1 game this year, boo!
