One button suit for interview?

Hi, I just bought a suit but realized that it has a single button and I think it might not look too good in the interviewer’s view.

But I thought I should ask here for someone with more experience before I decide to return it. I really want to keep this since this was the only one that fits great on me that I could find (non-bespoke).

    Thank you.

I honestly don't think it should be an issue. As long as you look nice and clean.

I honestly think you should be fine… just remember to unbutton when sitting and button again when standing- this will avoid the “pooch” and you will be more comfortable-

and they ask me why I drink...

We wear suits and ties everyday in my office and I never notice that. I am more likely to notice if the suit is too big or too small, crazy tie/shirt combo and things of that nature. When it appears that you wear it everyday, it comes off as more natural. I do notice shoes, however.

1 button suit is pretty standard. If it was a 3 button suit, then you might consider returning it.

I wouldn't worry at all about the suit.

I was offered a full-time position at one of the Big Four firms. The interview process required multiple interviews. The first interview was with HR, then a few weeks later I met with managers and partners. Each interview I wore the same suit, which was purchased from Walmart. Needless to say, the suit was obviously too big and looked terrible. However, we are accountants, not fashion designers.

Just have a great attitude, do your research on the firm, and be yourself.

I doubt it will matter for the interview, but if you want to get a lot of use out of the suit jacket besides the interview, I would return it and get a single-breasted 2 button suit. Dark navy or charcoal are ideal for professional settings. Please avoid black unless you plan on using it for a funeral.

One button: If you look like Archer and can pull off the look. One button suits are usually reserved for tuxedos.
Two button: Standard suit jacket. Do not button the bottom button.
Three button: Avoid at all costs, unless you want to look dated.
