Had 2 interviews last Tuesday with 2 different divisions of the same company…both audit positions. I feel like the interviews went great!! Sent thank you letters the next day. HR Director called me on Friday to ask which of my references I would like them to contact (I had put 4 but two are with my current employer). I asked if a decision had been made and he said that he had to call 2 references first. He called one on Friday (other one was out that day) and one late Monday. Hopefully some offers will be coming my way!!! Sent the background check info in exactly 2 weeks ago so that should probably be back by now. Looks like things are coming along 😉

As a side note, the second division that interviewed me asked me if I passed the exams (3 so far) on the first try. Didn't think anyone would ask that….

I do not like how they asked the question about first try. Some people are really smart and pass all 4 sections on the on the first try. Most fail at least once. It is not like your CPA exam attempts is an automatic indicator of what kind of employee are you going to be.

The lady started to talk about learning curves and how long it generally takes to learn everything. She said generally it takes about 1yr….then she said…”but wait, did you pass your all your exams on the first try”? I told her that I did and she said “well, you shouldn't have any trouble at all.” Needless to say, it totally caught me off guard. Was not expecting her to ask that. Heck…she's not even a CPA but she does have CIA, CGAP & MBA.

lol, so glad I didnt have that as an interview question. Took me 11 times to pass 4 parts. Then I will probably answer at least I am persistent and never give up hah.
